Halloween is one of the most popular holidays today. As of now, Halloween is one of the more controversial holidays because of the fear of going outside or handing things out to people. But even without the virus, there are some things that people don’t like about the holiday. Between the mood, tradition or things leading up to it, people either defend it or hate it for the way we celebrate. However I think there are some things to love and hate about the holiday.
The key part of the holiday is the trick-or-treating where kids dress up in costumes and get sweets from doors they knock on after dark. While many people may think it’s lame, it’s a cool way to see kids come up with creative ideas and see how committed they are to their theme. Most teenagers make the argument that they’re too old for Halloween as it’s a holiday for younger people, which is true, but it’s still endearing to see young people show off their creativity with their costume choices and see the many ideas for costumes as the options keep growing year after year. It also gives people an event to look forward to in October.
While trick-or-treating is the most popular attraction of Halloween, one of the best parts is the house decorating which creates a spooky atmosphere throughout the entire month. The atmosphere is a long part of Halloween and should be more beloved. Halloween’s atmosphere involves classic spooking monsters like zombies, ghosts, vampires and more. The atmosphere of Halloween is so popular, it creates many cool events and entertainments from locations like Haunted Houses and Corn mazes to entertainment like The Nightmare before Christmas and the song Spooky Scary Skeletons.
Now while the atmosphere is one of the most beloved, it’s brought down because it comes too early with decorations showing up in stores sometimes as early as late August. This is a big problem because it causes people to be sick of the holiday earlier than people want. The reason most stores start selling Halloween themed items is to make more profit off holiday themed items with the limited time. This ultimately hurts the holiday however, because it does wear off after a while and thus people become sick of the holiday early which rolls off to the great parts like haunted houses, resulting in less people liking it.
In conclusion, Halloween is a great holiday with the trick-or-treating and the atmosphere but getting dragged down by the mood coming too early which doesn’t give it as much praise as it deserves.
