This past week, Herndon High celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, and the results from a recent student survey by the Stinger offer some well-deserved love and gratitude for Herndon's fantastic staff. Take a look below to see what Herndon students had to say about their favorite teachers!
Ms. Hutton
One of her students said, “Ms. Hutton has a very nice personality and always gives great advice when it comes to writing essays.” Multiple students said, “She always puts in effort to make sure all her students feel comfortable.” Thank you, Ms. Hutton!
Ms. McNeice
“Ms. McNeice is a very organized teacher and always makes sure we’re doing well emotionally and academically.” We appreciate everything that you do for our school,

Ms. Hans
"Ms. Hans has everything I’ve ever wanted in a teacher. She is kind, caring, and has a personality like no other. She has a laugh that will make others laugh, and she genuinely cares for all of her students.” She has a HANS on approach to teaching!
Ms. Kortan
“Ms. Kortan explains what we’re learning really well and also in an entertaining way.” Another student said, “if there’s a person that could make government class fun, it’s gotta be Ms. Kortan.” Herndon is very lucky to have you, Ms. Kortan!
Mr. Pafumi
“Mr. Pafumi is really charismatic and very fun to talk to, I’m glad I took Theatre this year.” Another student said, “No matter what day it is, Mr. Pafumi always has a smile on his face.” From Herndon Middle to Herndon High, everyone knows Mr. Pafumi!
Mr. Spencer
“Mr. Spencer makes it fun to learn in class.” Multiple students said, “ he works extremely hard to make the projects engaging and collaborative.” Sports and Entertainment Marketing at Herndon is a great class to take because of you, Mr. Spencer!
Ms. Butterfield
A student said, “Ms. Butterfield has been so understanding and empathetic during this tough year, she’s always making sure we are learning the material in an effective way.” Thank you, Ms. Butterfield!
Ms. Jacoby
“She makes students feel included and makes class fun and enjoyable.” “She stands out because she takes the time to really get to know her students and create an environment where everyone feels comfortable.”
“She’s been one of my favorite teachers ever. She's so nice, funny and thoughtful.”
“She is by far my favorite teacher this year. She is funny, respectful and all-around a great person.”
Mr. Petras
“He was a great Chemistry teacher when I had him and he always made class a good time even when learning the most difficult topics.” Another student said, “He makes learning fun, cares about his students and their opinions, and wants us all to do well.”

Ms. Petras is an incredible teacher, she makes classes so fun even when we are learning content that isn’t necessarily fun. she encourages us to be our best and truly cares about us.” Multiple students said, “She loves what she does and loves to have fun doing it!”

Ms. Spies
“She is one of the sweetest teachers I know at Herndon High. Everything about her is just so perfect and she is so sweet with all of her students. She's just amazing.”
Ms. Van Slyke
“I would like to give a shout-out to Mrs. Van Slyke because she’s not only an amazing teacher but she also is very kind and just fun to be around.”
“Mrs. Van Slyke works really hard to make sure she is always learning new things about teaching so she can be the best teacher she can be.”
