New Herndon Football Coach Bill Bachman was introduced to the team on Monday, May 17th during the Football interest meeting. He said, “I am thrilled to be here, and a part of this program. We are starting something new here; whatever happened yester- day and of fall 2019, it matters nothing to me. Everybody starts fresh, everything is new. You choose your narrative, you’re not burdened by what happened before. My function here at Herndon is to help you, on the gridiron and off it.” Coach Bachman, who is entering the job during a time where Herndon football has struggled as of late, called for new motivation. “Embrace your expectations, have a sense of accountability. It might not go the way you want it to, but trust the process and always show up with a sense of preparation, energy, and enthusiasm.” Junior Mark Ellison took Coach Bachman’s words as motivation, “Coach Bachman is a nice man and he brings a fresh, good, and new vibe to our football program and I believe that he can change the culture of Herndon football for the better.” A man of principle, Coach Bachman presented his new mantra to the team: “Every day or every game might not go the way you want it to, but you gotta keep your head up and trust the process.” he added, “Come to practice everyday and expect to work hard, you own everything you do, follow these rules and we’ll be a pain in the a** to play against, any day of the week.” One player later said, “Hearing Coach (Bachman) speak, everything he said, got me very hyped to play for him and I was ready to run through a wall.” Coach Bachman later told us, “We are really making an effort to get more students involved in playing football; any interested player can always contact me.”
With the pre-season fast approaching, Bachman’s guidance will hopefully usher in the changes neces- sary for a solid 2021-2022 season. As a new era begins for Herndon football, we are all excited to see what our new coach brings!
