Last month, the Stinger put out its first physical issue of the 2020-2021 newspaper, sent via mail directly to students’ households. It’s come to our attention that an unfinalized draft of an opinion article was wrongly published in the news section. The opinion article in question, a voting guide regarding the 2020 Presidential Election, was being edited into a news article, yet that version was not the version that ended up being published.
The Stinger Staff takes its news reporting very seriously, and recognizes that the article featured several instances of biased language and ideas.
This past issue was a tremendous challenge to pull off, and unfixed problems were bound to remain. All content editing and layout had to be done virtually, limiting the interactive editing process.
