Outer Banks: Season 3 Review

After releasing the first season in April of 2020, the Netflix original Outer Banks has gained more and more popularity, mostly among middle and high schoolers. The show was renewed for a second season after growing to fame and now, the streaming service has released their third season of the adventure series this February 23rd. Just days before Netflix released the third season of its hit show, season four was also announced by the cast.

This most recent season has mixed reviews. One HHS student said that “it was so good that I couldn’t stop watching it, and finished it in one night,” while another said “I couldn’t get into it, it just wasn't the same as before and it became too unrealistic.” While some didn’t like the storyline of season three, the majority of people loved it, earning the show a spot on the Netflix top ten from the day it came out to today.

This season, the starring group of friends, known as the Pouges, travel on a quest in search of the lost city of gold known as El Dorado, located in South America. A common theme in this series is adventure and striving to become rich or “go full kook,” (kook being the rich people living in the Outer Banks). After expected and unexpected deaths, kidnappings, and attempts to mend relationships and trust, season three left us on a cliffhanger as they introduced the next adventure that the group of friends will risk their lives in, which is the search for the infamous Blackbeard's ship. We can’t wait to see what crazy plot twist the show will have for us next season.
