As we all know, our school routines will drastically change with these last few months of school. It can be difficult to find things to keep you busy with all this extra time at home. Whether you go to bed super late and sleep in or spend entire days scrolling through Instagram and Tiktok, there’s always something else you can do to stay entertained.
Doing art projects is an easy way to escape reality for a little bit and do something that will make you feel more productive. Making art is proven to calm you down and it’s just simply fun to do. Since many stores are closing and many people may not have all the supplies they might need to make a more complex art project, you can still use various things in your house that you probably already have.A more nature centered project is making a moss jar. To make this all you’ll need is a jar, a shovel, some pebbles, soil and of course, moss.
Your first step is to lay down a thin base layer of pebbles in your jar. This will be to make sure your moss doesn’t get too wet.
Next, get some soil and put that over the pebbles. This layer can be a bit thicker so eventually your moss can grow some roots.
After this is the fun part of getting your moss. Maybe go on a walk and search for some moss in the forest, or maybe you already have some in your yard. When digging up your moss you don’t need to dig deep at all since it is a plant that sits mainly on the surface. You can just take the edge of your shovel and peel it up.
Next you’ll want to rinse off the moss with some water to make sure there’s no bugs hiding in it.
Finally you just place the moss on top of the soil in the jar, spray it with some water and close the lid. Now you have a nice decoration to put in your room that will bring some of the outside in.
