Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Is Back!

By Maeve Tuma, Staff Writer

With Thanksgiving fast approaching this Thursday, it’s time for Macy’s 97th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade! Despite it being scaled down last year due to COVID-19, the classic celebration will return this year with live spectators. Starting at 9 a.m. at West 77th Street, the parade will move through New York City, ending at Macy’s flagship store around 12 p.m. Great views can be obtained from the west side of Central Park West between West 75th Street and West 59th Street. Farther down the parade route, viewers can line up at West 59th Street and West 38th Street. NBC will also broadcast the event for spectators at home. Hosted by Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker, the live stream will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in every time zone on Thursday, November 25th. It will also rebroadcast later in the day from 2 to 5 p.m. in every time zone.

Viewers can expect to see floats, balloons, bands, clowns, and marching bands. In addition, this year’s performance line up is one you won’t want to miss. There will be numerous singers including Carrie Underwood the K-pop group Aespa, and Kristin Chenoweth. The Broadway casts of “Wicked,” “Six,” and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical!” will also perform. We can’t forget about the Radio City Rockettes, and everyone's favorite, Santa Claus! Whether you’re watching from the streets of New York City, or from the comfort of your home, this Emmy Award-winning show is sure to be the highlight of Thanksgiving Day for many.
