Fairfax Places Fourth in VA County Health Rankings

In a recently released 2021 study, Fairfax County has been recognized as one of the healthiest in Virginia.

County Health Rankings and Roadmaps produces an annual study comparing a series of health factors across the general population, with the purpose of highlighting problem areas and encouraging increased attention towards health care access and opportunities. Factors examined ranged from obesity to flu vaccinations,

from teen birth rates to violent crime rates, and many more.


Of the 95 VA counties, Fairfax ranked #4, placing higher than at least 75% of the other counties. The report projected that those living with initial disparities in terms of access to health care and education would likely fare worse in the pandemic than otherwise. The 2021 report examined the data leading right up to the pandemic, while the 2022 report will feature data regarding the impact of COVID-19 on the community, while.


Virginia has administered 81.9% of its distributed vaccines. Virginia ranks 3rd in distribution with around 7,285,025 vaccines distributed. Virginia ranks 12th in administration of vaccines, with closer to 5,968,173 of vaccines administered.
