2022 Met Gala Recap

By Kat Herrera

This Monday's Met Gala event has left much chatter throughout the week. The 2022 Met Gala was held Monday, May 2nd, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala held to help benefit the museum. The event is famously known for its A-list celebrity guests and its musical performances. This year's Met theme is “Gilded Glamour” and has proven to be a difficult one for celebrities to follow. With a seemingly simple theme to uphold, many viewers were left disappointed with the amount of guests who either didn’t follow it or took the theme in the wrong direction.

Here are two examples of looks that definitely did not meet the theme. Sebastian Stan and Emily Ratajkowski took a colorful and vibrant stance on their outfits. However, many fans were disappointed in how the looks, that, while stunning, did not fit the theme.

On the other hand, here are two beautiful looks that not only followed the theme but alsodid so in style. Fans were very pleased with Billie Eilish’s pastel ball gown-esque dress and fans were even more surprised to hear that it was an all upcycled piece. Another stunning look that swept viewers off their feet was Genesis Suero’s “Cinderella” dress. Many were surprised to learn that she wasn’t an actress, musician, or model, but rather a television reporter covering the event. Her look got much attention and quickly became many people’s favorite for the night.

Speaking of fan favorites throughout the night, Blake Lively’s fit definitely took top spot as most memorable. Lively is no amateur when it comes to red carpet events and has certainly outdone herself with this double look dress. What started as a ribbon tied rose gold gown quickly revealed itself as a blue, statue of liberty inspired dress. It was one of the few transformation styled designs of the night and will definitely go in the books as one of the best.

Matching duos were very popular for this year's Met as we saw a lot of them posing on the red carpet. A very cohesive pair we saw was Jeremy Scott with Oscar winner Ariana De Bose. The two kept a very gilded glamor appearance wearing a

Moschino suit and dress combo. Another duo we saw during the event was Cardi B and

Donatella Versace. Donatella celebrated her 67th birthday and was accompanied by Cardi B who wore a beautiful gold chained Versace dress. The two pulled up to the event in a Versace car that complemented Cardi’s dress.

The Met Gala was a wonderful celebration of all things glamorous about fashion. New looks and pieces continue to outdo themselves each year as more styles are brought to life. Fans cannot wait to see what is in store for next year's fundraiser and are very excited to see what more can be brought to the table.
